Common Desk is proud to be a part of the Austin community. Our staff is working hard to find new ways to cater to our members during Covid-19, and other local Austin businesses are doing the same. Throughout these past couple of weeks, the city we love has gone through many changes, but its passion for community-focused business practices remains the same. We’ve compiled a list of some of the creative ways Austin businesses have worked to keep our community together. From delivery services to new products for enhancing WFH life, these local businesses have been keeping our city up and running during stay at home orders. Visit Austin Cookbook – Visit Austin, an Austin tourism organization, teamed up with R/GA to create a virtual cookbook of recipes from local Austin eateries. Austin Table: Recipes from Beloved Austin Restaurants features 24 food and drink recipes from favorite places such as LeRoy & Lewis and the Roosevelt Room. All of the book’s proceeds goes directly back to the restaurants featured, making the book so much more than a collection of recipes.

Book People Online Ordering

The largest independent bookstore in Texas may have temporarily closed their doors, but you can still count on them for your next favorite read. They have opened an online shop, and they will ship you the title through the mail. You’ll be able to tackle your summer reading list while still staying socially distant!

Family-Style Takeout Meals

As restaurant dining rooms have been mostly closed in recent weeks, some Austin restaurants are making it easier to order takeout. Restaurants such as Tony C’s and The Peached Tortilla are offering family-style takeout meals that makes feeding the masses easy. With one fixed price, you can enjoy a delicious meal without any of the prep.

Austin Beerworks Online Ordering

Instead of closing their tap room completely, this local favorite just took their beverages online, which means you can order your favorite beer from your couch! While they don’t offer delivery, they make pick-up easy and contact free.

Medici Coffee Subscription

If there’s one thing I miss the most, it’s enjoying a freshly brewed cup of coffee at a local coffee shop. Thankfully, Medici understands. They created a subscription coffee service for you to brew your own cafe style favorites at home. The packages range from around $15-$18, so you don’t have to break the bank in order to enjoy a cup of joe.

To all of the establishments in Austin working hard at keeping the community entertained, fed, and safe during this season, thank you! We salute your creative ideas and marketable products that have helped make life seem a bit more normal during stay at home. Common Desk has been nothing short of inspired by the ingenuity our city has shown in recent weeks, and we are proud to be a part of the Austin community.
