Heroic Search stays on top of the SEO search marketing game:

Who are you and what are you up to?

I’m Jared Carrizales, and I lead the team at Heroic Search. We specialize in SEO / content marketing for clients in various industries.

In a nutshell, our job is to earn more qualified traffic to our clients’ websites and make sure that traffic converts for their business. We do this by ensuring that their website can perform exceptionally well in search engines, as well as executing a content marketing plan uniquely tailored for the voice of their business.

What’s your story?

Heroic Search was born in January of 2013 and was designed specifically to help businesses achieve return on investment with search marketing campaigns. Unfortunately, there are a large portion of agencies that make false promises and deliver poor work (some of which can even hurt your website’s presence), all without the client knowing until the damage has been done and tens of thousands of dollars have been wasted. One of the main goals of Heroic Search, and myself personally, is to make sure that we educate clients so that they don’t become these types of casualties…hence the name.

What sets you apart from others in your industry?

While many companies perform search marketing, very few of them actually do so with an emphasis on ROI. That’s our main goal with every client we take on, and it’s also how we structure our campaigns and reporting.

How is it going?

It’s going really, really well. We’re five members strong and have very strong relationships with our clients. It’s challenging of course, but all in all it’s been a very rewarding experience.

What are your biggest challenges?

Our biggest hurdles have been, and will probably always will be, scaling properly. I have very high expectations of what a marketer should be, so it’s been tough to find people that care deeply for our clients’ campaigns who don’t cost a literal arm and a leg. But this isn’t a unique challenge either, so I’m sure we’ll get through it.

What are the two most valuable things you have learned since starting your business?

1) If you do excellent work and care about your clients, they will be your sales staff.

2) Moving fast is just as important as doing a good job.

What’s your favorite part of your work?

Helping clients to grow a business and seeing the joys it brings them. While they don’t always have the biggest budgets, the small “underdog” clients are a perfect example of this. When our team can use our talents to beat huge brands like Amazon, Office Depot, or eBay in the search engines, it’s a great feeling.

What is the most time-consuming part of your work?

Delegation. I’ll be honest, I’m not the best at this, so it takes a little bit more time than it may others. Part of this is because I keep too much in my head and just think “everyone else will know what I’m talking about.”

Do you get much free time? How do you spend it?

A little bit. I try to play volleyball with the my fellow Common Deskers as much as I can. I also enjoy playing tennis on occasion. Other than that mostly free time goes to personal projects like blogging.

Where are you going from here?

One of my goals for 2015 is to start a work/vacation program within our team. I’m very much a wannabe digital nomad, and I’ve always enjoyed meeting other like-minded people. Coworking is a perfect mix of that and we can do that almost anywhere, so why not take advantage?

Are you thinking about expanding your team?

Definitely. We’re looking for another SEO specialist and an outreach coordinator. Give me a shout at jared (@) heroicsearch.com if you’re interested.

What is the impact of your business/ industry on your local community? On society?

Heroic Search represents a fully transparent business in an incredibly spammy industry. Even if it’s just a consulting project, I’d like to think we help clients get on the right path in a mine-filled industry.

Why did you decide to office at The Common desk?

Great environment and awesome community.

Are you working on a Mac or a PC?

PC forever. I don’t need a 2000 dollar popularity device 😉

What are two mobile apps that you couldn’t work without?

Twitter, Gmail

What’s your favorite place to eat in Deep Ellum?

Buzzbrews is my #1 go to, but I love Tanoshii Ramen, too.
