Over the past 5 years, Dallas has officially established itself as a hotspot for the coworking phenomenon; over 35 locally-owned coworking spaces are currently operating in DFW alone, and 2 new national competitors have entered into the scene in the past 6 months. Common Desk was one of the first coworking spaces to open in DFW, and we’ve been providing Dallas with an independent coworking experience since 2012.
As you all know, we already have two Dallas coworking spaces thriving in the hearts of Deep Ellum and Oak Cliff, totaling 20,000 square feet. But as we look to the future, we think that D-FW still has a need for more coworking options, which is why we have some big news to share:
We’re Getting Ready To Triple Our DFW Footprint In 2017.

In Plano, we’ve signed a 27,000 square foot deal with Granite Properties at Granite V, the newest building in Granite Park. Granite Park, located on the southeast corner of 121 and the Tollway, currently has over 20 restaurant concepts in place. In addition, Granite Properties is soon to open a Boardwalk designed to mimic Dallas’ Trinity Groves project. Common Desk – Granite Park in West Plano will feature many of the same aesthetics that Common Desk members are used to seeing such as a bar / restaurant vibe, mezzanine space, quirky amenities, and of course, craft beers on tap.
Common Desk – Granite Park will open as the first ever Plano coworking space in the Spring of 2017.
We are opening our largest location to date in Granite Park because of the accessibility, walkability, and visibility that Granite Park provides. We are confident that Plano is more than ready for their first coworking concept.
Nick Clark, Founder and CEO of Common Desk

But we’re not stopping there– in addition to the launch of a Plano location, we’re responding to the growth of Deep Ellum by expanding our original location. 44Buildand Entos have been working to help us design all of our new expansions, and we can’t wait to show off their ingenuity.
The 4,500 square foot Common Desk – Deep Ellum expansion will include a newly renovated exterior, an outdoor patio and conference room, a relaxation room, showers, and additional dedicated offices.
As a company, we are making a push towards hospitality. Each of our new spaces will feature a hospitality bar at every entrance, staffed by a full-time host position. We want our members to feel welcome each time they walk into our spaces.
MaryClaire Perry, Director of People and Culture
Commmon Desk is working to finalize our fourth coworking space location in the heart of the West 7th District of Fort Worth to open Summer 2017.
Alt+Co Launch is representing Common Desk as we work to finalize a Fort Worth location. Fort Worth already has a handful of great locally-owned coworking spaces, and our brand sees the opening of a Fort Worth space as an opportunity to help grow the cause of coworking as a whole throughout the city and its surrounding areas. Our Fort Worth space will be approximately 13,000 square feet and is set to open next summer. The best part? It’s walkable to all of the great restaurants and retail in the West 7th area.
And last but not least– as you’ve probably noticed, our website is completely new, and our brand has been totally refreshed. Our new website has been carefully crafted to give users a taste of coworking before they ever enter into a coworking space. We worked with local artists and web developers to create the new site and further reflect both the nature of coworking and the significant growth that the Common Desk brand is going to see in 2017.

Coworking has been booming in Dallas for 5 years and counting, and with the arrival of 2 different national players and growth of original local DFW spaces, it’s clear to say that this is only the beginning of the story for Dallas coworking and its many operators. All in all, 2017 is going to be a huge year for coworking, a huge year for Common Desk, and a huge year for D-FW.
People are the heartbeat of everything we do at Common Desk. Without people, coworking would be nothing but a trendy office concept. We’re beyond excited to continue to meet the office and community needs of both our current members and many people to come in 2017. Let’s get this party started!
