Common Desk has come to a new location. Today, we’re introducing Common Desk – S. Main Street in Salt Lake City, Utah! While Common Desk has ventured out of native Texas before, this is our first stride west and we couldn’t be more thrilled to get acquainted with a new metro of professionals. Coming Summer 2024, we’re delivering our staple offerings of flexible, intentional, and engaging coworking passes to the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, and like the westward expansions of old, we mean to strike gold in the city of Sundance, towering temples, and unparalleled natural beauty. Keep reading to get a first look at this summer’s newest Common Desk launch!

Destination Details

Sandwiched between the Wasatch and Oaquer mountain ranges in downtown Salt Lake, 650 Main is a 10-story office tower with glittering glass windows, high-end finishes, and a striking view of the Salt Lake Valley. 650 Main is Common Desk’s third partnership with Patrinely, a Houston-based real estate firm. In the wake of successes like Common Desk – City Place and Common Desk – Westchase, we’re excited to breathe life into another office park alongside our partners at Patrinely.

Here’s the inside scoop: 650 Main sits 15 minutes from the Salt Lake City airport, making it the go-to hub for out-of-town professionals and local jet setters looking to stay productive amidst hectic schedules. It’s strategically placed a handful of steps from the TRAX light rail, Interstate 15, and a slew of downtown restaurants and shopping. 650 Main is also the first tower in Salt Lake to receive the WiredScore and LEEDGold certification, making it an innovative, technologically sophisticated building for Salt Lake’s dynamic workforce.

From there, 650 Main’s designers ensured that the building reflects Salt Lake’s crossover lifestyle of indoor-outdoor living. 650 Main is equipped with a fitness center featuring retractable glass walls that lead out onto the green for mat-based movement and includes plenty of outdoor patio space for its busy members to enjoy, whether on break or taking their work into the sunshine.

A Look Inside

You’ll find Common Desk – S. Main Street on the first two floors of the 650 Main building spanning nearly 32,000 square feet of offices and meeting rooms for Salt Lake’s growing business sector. Despite this location being our first journey west, patrons can expect to be welcomed by the same southern hospitality we’re known for in our other coworking markets. S. Main Street will include Common Desk’s classic line-up of all-star amenities like complimentary drip coffee, tea, and snacks, packed weekly calendars that are the perfect networking opportunity, a full-fledged espresso bar with a menu of our seasonal favorites, a podcast studio, wellness room for working moms, fitness center, and thoughtfully designed interiors inspired by Salt Lake City. While on the subject of design, we asked our Head of Design, Austin Gauley, to dish a bit about the interior characteristics of Salt Lake’s freshest coworking destination.

“Common Desk – S. Main Street is located in a striking office building in downtown Salt Lake City and is well-connected to public transportation and main thoroughfares. Inside, our two floors of coworking and office space are connected by a breathtaking architectural stair featuring a warm, wood slat screen wall integrated into the railing and the finishes, art, and colors draw inspiration from the wild, commanding nature that surrounds the city.”

Austin Gauley, Head of Design, Common Desk

CD – S. Main Street stands near the famous Temple Square, Utah’s State Capitol building, the University of Utah campus, and countless parks, such as Pioneer and Liberty Park. Tons of hotels, like the Grand American Hotel, DoubleTree Suites, and more dot the area, and Salt Lake’s multipurpose open event arena, the Gallivan Center, is a convenient 4-minute drive around the block. Whether a Salt Lake City resident or visiting, your work-life balance will remain steady and connected to what the city offers with S. Main Street as your working home base.

Get to know us (since we’re new here)

Since S. Main Street is Common Desk’s first Utah location, we’d like to introduce ourselves! Our coworking journey began in 2012 in a spirited neighborhood in east Dallas. From its origin, Common Desk has set out to cultivate people-centric workspaces that professionals across industries want to clock into again and again. Three quick years after our flagship location took off, we added another location southwest of Dallas’ Trinity River, meeting the unique needs of DFW’s workforce, one neighborhood at a time. Our collection of coworking spaces has grown to include 9 destinations in the DFW metroplex alone and has branched into Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and North Carolina years later.

Our offerings menu includes conference room and event space rentals, monthly coworking memberships, flexible office rentals for teams of up to 10, and suite leases for larger companies. Our ultimate aim is to provide intentional, flexible, and communal workspaces that make the workday a blast where everyone feels valued and connected.
