Thoughts of another week of grey cubicles, bad lighting, cheap coffee, annoying coworkers, micromanaging bosses, and long commutes give many Dallas workers the Sunday night blues. Sometimes just the thought of spending another week at a soul-crushing corporate workspace begins to give employees around Dallas anxious thoughts week in and week out.

Not all hope is lost though, because this trend is beginning to change in big ways. Coworking spaces, virtual offices, cafes, and creative office spaces are creating some amazing places to be productive. Working from home is a nice option to get some extra work done, but it’s not a viable long-term option due to endless distractions and lack of social interaction amongst your peers. If you’re looking to escape the office, you can find inspiration and productivity at these unconventional Dallas work spots:

Belmont Hotel

The Belmont is one of Dallas’ gems. It’s a hotel by trade, but it has a fantastic patio, bar, lobby area, and one of the best rooftop views of Dallas. Its Oak Cliff character makes it stand out from other hotels in Dallas in a cool way, and it’s the perfect spot for plenty of occasions- yes, even working. The lobby and patio areas are prime spots for getting work done in style, and BarBelmont starts making delicious drinks at 3 p.m. sharp, giving you a good reason to power through that unfinished project. Also worth noting is that the pool area has Wifi. We’ll just leave that there.

Klyde Warren Park

Klyde Warren Park is like the Central Park of Dallas. Whether you want to perfect your downward dog or just walk your dog, five acres of green space are waiting to provide an oasis of fresh air in the center of Downtown Dallas. The Reading & Games Room is an outdoor salon where book clubs, classes, and discussion groups gather to trade ideas. Klyde Warren Park also hosts Ideas in Bloom, a seasonal weekly speaker series featuring authors, artists, and some of the city’s greatest thinkers. The park is fun, refreshing, and filled with Dallas culture.

TopGolf Dallas

What could be more modern than working on your laptop with the view of a driving range in front of you? Located on Park Lane, TopGolf has fast wifi, and you don’t even need to bring golf clubs. TopGolf is more than a driving range, and it makes for a great location for a fun corporate event. The inside has plenty of seating options, and there’s even an outdoor deck with fire pits for those cool Spring nights.

Royal Blue Grocery

Royal Blue is more than just a grocery store in Highland Park. It serves all 3 meals of the day, and it has aisles filled with everything from food to household goods while utilizing specific sections for areas like their bakery and deli. Royal Blue has a great in-store café, mezzanine-level seating, and a patio that has 70 seats waiting for you to sit and enjoy this Spring weather. Not only is this place homey and fresh, but it’s also open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., allowing for plenty of time for productivity.

The Joule

The Joule is an artfully delivered experience set in the heart of Downtown, within walking distance of the Dallas Arts District. The Lobby Bar offers an intimate setting while being centered in the middle of the action. The lobby is open to the public for anyone who wants to shop in the Joule’s retail stores, stop by for a morning coffee, or even wind down in the evening with a cocktail in hand. Weekend Coffee is also in the lobby, so you won’t be deprived of delicious brews if you decide to sit down and get work done.

Goodfriend

Located on Peavy Road near White Rock Lake, Goodfriend Beer Garden and Burger House is a great place to go if you’re looking to get work done in an energetic and rustic environment. With its wooden touches and variety of seating, you’ll feel right at home. They’ve got open air and that local vibe we all love to encounter.

Deep Ellum Brewing

Deep Ellum Brewing is one of the coolest spots in Deep Ellum. It’s famous in Texas for its dedication to making extraordinary beers and supporting all things local. There’s plenty of table space and free wifi. If you’re looking for a quiet atmosphere, try to avoid Saturdays (tours) and Tuesday evenings (trivia). The fun light fixtures and rustic Deep Ellum vibe make work feel a lot less like work. If you’re in Deep Ellum, it’s a must-see!
